Description
This is a full-color 1:144 3D print of the Morane-Saulnier Type L of Sous-lieutenant Roland Garros of Escadrille MS 26. Garros’ plane was the first tractor plane with a fixed machine gun firing through the arc of the propeller, which gave it great aiming advantages over more ad-hoc aiming solutions before it. It accomplished this not with a synchronizing mechanism but by fitting deflector plates to to the propeller to shunt aside any stray Hotchkiss bullets. Garros used it to destroy three German planes in 1-18 April 1915, but his plane was brought down by ground fire on the 18th and he was captured. Garros’ Morane-Saulnier was an early model with no wing cutout, wide roundel centers, and uncolored rudder.
No painting is necessary — this model comes printed in full color, ready to use. The model does not come with a flight stand, maneuver deck, or plane card. You can find an unofficial plane card for this plane in this paint scheme in the gallery on this page.
