Description
This is a full-color 1:144 3D print of the Halberstadt D.II of Leutnant Kurt Wintgens of Jasta 1. Wintgens’ unconfirmed victory on 1 July 1915 was the first in a Fokker Eindecker. A year later he won the Pour le Merité after his eighth win. By mid-1916, Wintgens was Germany’s second-leading ace, following Boelcke, with nineteen air victories, making him one of Germany’s earliest celebrated aces. In September 1916 he was shot down in flames while protecting a German two-seater, the observer of which was future ace Josef Veltjens.
