Description

This is a full-color 1:144 3D print of the Albatros D.I (385/16?) of Leutnant Diether Collin of Jasta 2.  This plane was originally delivered in varnished-plywood finish, but Collin had its fuselage painted yellow.  In a later time, the plane was repainted in light green, including the upper wings.  Collin scored two victories with Jasta 2 before being transferred back to Jasta 22 (where he had begun) and later Jasta 56.  In August 1918 he was wounded in the calf by a Belgian fighter during a balloon attack, and blood poisoning from the phosphorus in the incendiary ammunition led to his death in the hospital on the same day.  He had scored thirteen air victories in his career.

No painting is necessary — this model comes printed in full color, ready to use.  It comes with an integral flight peg for mounting on game flight stands (not included), which can be carefully removed with a cutting tool, if desired.  The peg is designed for a fairly tight fit; you can file it down slightly if you prefer a looser fit.  The model does not come with a flight stand, maneuver deck, or plane card.  You can find an unofficial plane card for this plane in this paint scheme in the gallery above or at https://linen.miraheze.org/wiki/File:AlbD1-Collin-card.jpg.
